I have recently fallen in love with classical and neo classical and need more. No Mozart or Beethoven, I already know them. I already know Yngwie for neo classical, but I want something less shreddy. Johann Sebastian Bach is probably my favorite, if that means anything.

Also that movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. The music from that is my favorite ever. Suggestions like that?

And this doesn't really fit anywhere else, except maybe in the "Other" category in the Bands. And it is full of rap questions.

The fastest I've ever made my basses go was sixteenth notes for four bars at 75 bpm so yeah. I try to keep it interesting though.

Check out Danny Elfman's Serenada Schizophrana. It's pretty good, i liked it alot. Hans Zimmer is pretty good too, he did the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtracks(minus the first), I say go for the second movies soundtrack, it's really good. John Williams is usually pretty good, he did Star Wars, Indiana Jones and a ton more.

But enough of movie composers. I really enjoy Sousa even though alot of people hate him for some reason. He does mainly marches but i think a ton of them are really good. Also, Gustav Holst is another really good composer. He wrote The Planets, a song about each one i like the whole thing. Not a bit is dull. Mars and Jupiter are the highlights though.

Those are my recommendations. I highly recommend them to you!

Baroque: Yeah, Bach's your man.

Classical: Yep, Mozart and Beethoven.

Romantic: Chopin, Liszt, Grieg, Alkan. The Romantic era really is the best with piano music. I don't listen to so much orchestral music.

Impressionist: DEBUSSY, DEBUSSY, DEBUSSY, DEBUSSY! Hands down my favorite composer. Amazing piano and orchestral music. He isn't good if you like these huge fast technically impossible pieces, but I think one of the best composers of all.

Modern: Prokofiev

Good?

I would say all of them...

meh, quite a few of them are pretty mediocre, especially when you get to later periods where they started preserving more and more crap. Also figure in that what's "good" to one person could be total shit to the next.

Depend what style you want really.

I'm really into Niccollo Paganini and Franz Listz.

I like Baroque alot too. Could never get into Waltz's (stuff like Strauss) as much though...

And isn't there a classical thread in the 'other' forum?
