555's in pedals are mostly used for switching situations that switch between two points or on and off, delay the time till turn-on/off, etc. Not in actual audio situations usually. For example, you could make an automatic killswitch with a 555. But hey, then you'd be stealing my idea! And yeah, I have actually made a schematic for it once but never bothered making it because it would have horrible noise issues.
