for a truss rod, would i keep the screw loose, or would i tighten it about 30% so if the neck went back i could fix it?

i got this one http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Truss_rods/Adjustable_truss_rods/Martin_Adjustable_Truss_Rod.html

or rephrased would i tighten the nut on the truss rod before i glue on the finger board, or would i just keep it loose (the way i got it)

Stew mac truss rods are teh suxx

Its a one way adjustable rod, there is no "going the other way" with them, as far as I know. You need a double action for that.

And when installing I think you keep it undone. It says in Melvyn Hiscock's book.

Keep it loose when you are installing it.
