So I'm looking for some new stuff to play, i've played a lot in rock, funk, punk, alternative, and a little metal type stuff. But I'm looking for something new.
What are some bands with good bass that you wouldn't expect coming from the genre it's in?

listen to some fusion and some acid rock.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

Does Opeth have actually that amazing basslines? I listen to them a lot but don't hear anything that special about the basslines.

learn Bluegrass
like actual deep down stuff
I can't give any good examples
but I went to a Bluegrass 'festival' once and was simply amazed by the musicianship
Lord Gold feeds from your orifices and he wants to see you sweat.
Lord Gold probes you publicly and makes your pussy wet.
Now say his name.....

A fair bit follows the guitar work (which is impressive in itself). My personal favourite lines are Baying of the Hounds and Black Rose Immortal. Not overtly technical, but sound fantastic.
