Is it wrong for an American man, whose family came from Great Britain (some a century ago, some over 2 centuries ago but from Great Britain none the less) to play a guitar with the Union Jack painted on it?

I guess it's cool to be proud of your heritage, but I wouldn't do it personally since I wasn't born there.
#3
I don't see any problem.

In fact, a guitar with the union jack would look rather cool.

No? People are allowed to do whatrver they want as long as they're not hateful and don't hurt anybody. Hell, he doesn't need to have any British blood in him at all, and it'd be cool. Who are any of us to tell him otherwise?

Hey if it wasn't your parents then not really, you shouldn't because that means your parents grew up in America, making them not British at all.

It doesn't necessarily have to be about heritage. It can just be appreciation for a country.

Also you're off topic. This thread is about Reva eating snowmen.

No, it's wrong and vile and disgusting. All those three. You do not have freedom to choose to do whatever the crap you want with your guitar. You are not allowed to show pride in your heritage or respect for another country. You are not even allowed to do that even if the only reason is that you like the pattern. You should be ashamed of yourself.

well alright! The majority say it'd be ok for various reasons. My real reason is that I and my family
are right proud of our British heritage so I'm gonna do it! Not sure what guitar I'll do it to yet, I just wanted to through the idea out there. Look for a thread on the build in the future! Thanks everyone!

Just tell 'em it looks kool. What white man in the U.S. DOESN'T have some european descent (most likely close to and/or ACTUALLY british)

To be fairly honest, I find it annoying when people who's family emigrated hundreds of yers ago still claim to be Scottish.

So if you're doing it because you thinks you're British then yes, it is wrong, because you aren't.

The point of underground bands is their not popular or famous most of the time. Thus there is a good chance they suck.

It's not that I think I'm British. I wanna do it because I am proud that my lineage is British. It's out of respect for where my family came from. It's kinda like when an African-American man wears a dashiki. He's not actually African, but his blood comes from there, so he wants to show respect to his ancestors, ya dig?

No, the Union Jack is beautiful and I encourage it's usage.

...there are people that claim they're Scottish? I honestly don't think I have ever met one.

I don't see a problem with it. Do whatever you want.

I want a Telecaster with the Union Jack painted on it. I'm canadian, my mom's family from scotland (Reid) and my father's family is from France.

So... You are Scottish and French, but you want a British flag on your guitar?

That doesnt make a ton of sense... why dont you just get a French or Scottish flag?
