It's a common thing... people being absolutely infatuated by someone on another level, completely out of their league. On another planet, perhaps. Everyday girls purr over sexy actors and rock stars; everyday guys fall for the stunning beauty of actresses and models that they will never see in the real world. I've never once been in this type of situation.

Until now.

Video no longer available?

Funny, I was going to put something like "nice rump, nice groove, but still doesn't deserve to be on the cover of Bass Player."

Thread reopened. Yes, I can be reasonable at times, if you convince me nicely.

She's a pretty remarkable player, a friend gave me her CD. I just wish Bass Player would stop striving so hard for the "poster child syndrome" at times though.

She's one of those people who make me want an upright quite badly. And who prove Mr. Tam's point of women playing bass being dead sexy.

I'm tired of the GK amps. I think Flea would sell their amps way better. but she isn't bad.

she is actually rather impressive. needs some Hendrix moves though, to go with the hair.

Flea does appear in GK ads, though.

Saw her on Letterman, was rather impressed, though not what I enjoy listening too.

Yeah, I've noticed a rather large rise in use of her add. It does have a seductive quality to it, I guess, so...as they say...sex sells.

And what, no "welcome back"?

Wow, that's strange, the video works for me now. Before it said it wasn't available.

Anyway, as far as uprights go, there's absolutely NOTHING sexier than this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Npy3DlV98yM

Moving right along... I must admit her gracing the cover of BP really made me scrutinize her and there's probably nothing she can do short of playing Chromatic Fantasy on upright that'll make me warm up to her. The song was nice and sexy sounding, with a totally straightforward bass part. By that video, she seems to be more of a songstress than a bass player (like what the magazine's called) but it was a nice song.

However, I quite literally facepalmed when listening to the lyrics of the chorus. Like... a literal palm to the face.

Yes it should. Between you and Humanity, the spam quotient was rather large last night.

Yes Fitz, she does border into Joni Mitchell territory on her lyrical content at times. But at least her voice is not as strident. And she can actually play her instrument of choice in standard tuning.

I'm sorry Tam. I'll stop spamming.

and after the first couple of lines, I ignored the lyrics.

There's a few other videos of her as well; in one she's playing a fretless ABG. Her bass part isn't exactly over-the-top in the video I posted, but she's got some more intricate parts in her other songs (most of which are more straighahead jazz). She actually talked about not being a singer in Bass Player... maybe fishing for comments or something?

Oh, like being humble to passive-aggressively get compliments on her voice? Isn't being humble a load of crap?

I thought being humble was a sort of safety net. Just in case you aren't as good as you think you are.

It CAN be, yeah. But in this case, it was like some hot chick wearing something smoking and knowing it, but saying "oh, this old thing?"
