I'm thinking about getting a Jmp-1. So I need a Pre-amp (the Jmp-1), and a power amp (the cabinet?). Plus a rack, where the hell can I find this stuff, and could you name some good brands?

EDIT: BTW I already have a cabinet (1960a).

No, the cabinet... is the cabinet.

The power amp is a separate thing. A head or combo amp have both the pre and power built into it. The power amp is what produces the volume into the cabinet.

Aight, so would it be smart to slave the JMP-1 through my TSL 60, or buy a power amp, and if I should buy the power amp, what's the average price, and good brands.

I have no personal experience with it but I've heard the Marshall EL34 Dual Monobloc is a pretty nice power amp... gonna run you about $1900 though.

What sound are you looking for and how much are you willing to spend?

You could do it, but the power amp of the TSL is going to be voiced for the preamp section of it, so it won't necessarily sound its best with another preamp.

Mesa makes great power amps, as does VHT.

This isn't a what amp thread.

I'll probably go with a Mesa 50/50.

What is it then?

Your power amp will affect the tones available to you, getting a metal orientated power amp isn't going to work if you're a blues player.

It costs money, recommending you a power amp that costs $3000 isn't helpful if you've only got $200.

My questions were relevant and would have made it easier for people to give advice.

YOu can use the power section of your TSL untill you get a power amp. JMP-1 out to the TSL effects return. This will bypass the tone controls of the TSL.
