Not just "compress the sound", because I don't know what that means exactly. If I were to put a compressor into my setup, what would change in the sound?

many use it to hold notes longer... or use it as a gain booster. at high settings it boosts the attack of notes you play. it also gives off a lot of feedback when on.

evens out the low mids and highs. when at max itll sound like californication where you wouldnt be able to tell when your striking the strings hard or soft.
