What is a sticky thread?

EDIT: also, what does FTW mean? ive been wondering about this for a while

a sticky is a thread that's 'stuck' to the top of the forum. it stays there even if nobody posts in it so they're usually used for important topics.

FTW means 'for the win'.

Reading the stickied threads before making your own thread, will save clutter. Often the stickies have all the info you need.

And sometimes they contain info about how a particular forum operates. Good info to have before you even post in that forum.

The FAQ and the RULES threads, stickied at the top of this forum are good examples.
Give them a quick read. Get an idea of what they contain, and refer to them later when questions arise.
