I'm lookin for a good bass to play alternative, and i want someones opinion besides my extremely biased bassist friend. Any help would be appreciated. oh and probably $1000 or under

Ibanez, Schecter, G&L Tribute, Warwick (used or ash body 'vette), Fender, and probably a few other things, but if you look at those, they should be great.
