You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Wine Red or Midnight Wine, hands down those colors are beautiful. Also I guess that Olympian white that looks creamy? Maybe its just the creamy color, I don't know but pure white just looks stupid in my opinion.

If you go red, get a White Pearl pickguard, those look beautiful on red guitars :]

1. Black on Black
2. All black
3. Only played an American strat, but i've heard good things about the G&L.

G&L's are better guitars than all the newer fenders. They are made by Leo Fender. They kill deluxes so I wouldn't dare choose a standard over one.

when i buy one, should i ask for a free setup?
And how much are setups usually, becus at my shop it's $100

G&L are american made too

I would go with the G&L, they have a lot more consistent quality than Fenders

It should be roughly the same, though of course it's never going to be absolutely identical in every single way. In pictures, the G&L one looks a little 'richer'.

Don't forget as well as the regular sunburst, Fender also make Strats in Sienna Burst, which is like the sunburst but the middle (yellow/orange) is slightly more transparent. That can look really nice, especially once it's aged a little.

Well I have a purple MIM 1998 strat that I adore.

Purple id say is my favorite strat (and all around) color.

For OP Id say either the black or candy apple strat.
#35
Indeed purple is always a fantastic option for any guitar.

Get yourself a Fiesta Red, Surf Green, or Daphne blue Strat. I don't think the American Standards come in those colours, so you'll probably have to get one of the classic/reissue ones.

...Just my opinion, but I love those colours on strats.

Shes a beaut. Unfortunatly for some reason any picture I take makes it appear blue....

Its clearly a darkish purple in person tho.
#39
why do you prefer the american standard? and my new options are olympic white and sunburst. maybe a g&L white
