Okay so I'm currently saving up for this guitar and need your opinions on it..

It'll be used for mainly rock and metal, but also a fair bit of clean stuff.

Is it worth the money?
A good upgrade from my starter pack-Ibanez?
Will it go well with my Randall RG50-TC?
Do you recommend it?

Fantastic guitar. If you prefer the LP-shape, the Ec500 is the way to go (even though I prefer a real Gibson...)

I'd buy a Ltd Fx400, but that's because I love natural finishes and Explorers

Does the EC500 have EMG's?

I believe it has an EMG81/60 combo. i could be wrong though.

Yup, they do. But if only you could get silver coloured EMGs with a cherry sunburst/vintage sunburst, that would look 'vintage' but sound metal. Which is good, for metal at least.

I've played one of those.
They're awesome for the price!

EDIT-

And the EMG 81/60 combo is pretty sweet. I have it in my Eclipse and the 60 is pretty good for cleans and I use it for more of lead playing. It's a very smooth pickup, and pretty warm IMO. It's kind of bassy with clean stuff, but if you roll the volume back just a tiny bit it's perfect for nice cleans.

it'd be good if they could make them with metal covers.
