I completely changed my old riff and change it into this one, so can anyone tell me what key it is and tell me how to tell what key something is in so I can do it myself. Thanks in advance.

^ Incorrect. It has a C, not a C#

The key could either be C or G, it's impossible to tell as there is no F played in it.

D minor surely?

Not really, if it was purely D minor then the 2 chord would have a b5 in it.

D Dorian would be all right.

^ it's common to harmonise every note of the scale with a 5th in rock and punk.

I'd say D minor would probably be closer to what the threadstarter's thinking of.

Why thank you for your excellent contribution.

I would also like to apologise for being a cheeky git.

P.S. I'm gay.

And sorry for messing around in your thread TS - but it's in D minor and this is in the wrong forum anyway. Should be in Musician Talk. Although it's a very irritating question for them, and I'd advise reading all the theory links in my sig.
