Like the thread says I need a metal amp. My budget is probably going to be around 600-700 dollars, and if I can get a killer tone from buying used, I'd do that but there are very few craigslist postings selling decent amps in my area, just mostly practice SS amps. I don't want any stacks, just a combo amp. I want something that will be good for practicing(making a lot of noise isn't too big of a problem though ), jamming with friends, and playing small gigs with a band sometime in the future.

I played a Randall RG75DG3 and an RG50TC at a store recently but they didn't really blow me away, but the clerk said he replaced the tubes in the RG50TC with Ruby tubes. Maybe that was why I had a hard time finding an awesome tone? I'll youtube that later to find out what it sounds like with the EHX tubes still in.

I don't really care for effects right now, except maybe for reverb.

If it matters, I play an Epi G-400.

metal I play and listen to are Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Children of Bodom.

I don't think I forgot anything....so suggest away!

You might wanna try looking on Craigslist for a used 5150. Maybe try out a B-52, I like the tone I get out of mine.

i dunno about the rectoverb. It's a beautiful sounding amp, but it might be difficult to get the metal tone he's looking for without blowing down a wall. maybe if he had an attenuator.

Shreadhead22 had nothing helpful to say to me. He just immediatly started being a prick.

I think the two that seem the best to me right now are the Randall RG50TC and the B-52 AT-112. I am leaning more towards the B-52 due to it's lower price, hopefully soon I can take a trip to Guitar Center and try them both out.
