Just a quick question, when buying input jacks, do I need a mono or a stero? This is for the guitar I'm building.

mono for passives stereo for actives.
i used to be a mod, then i took an arrow in the knee.

If you buy a stero jack it has all the connections for a mono jack inbuilt, so you can wire it as either.

Generally, Stereo jacks are only used for active pickups. But, since you can use a stereo jack as a mono, anythings possible.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

My carvin has a stereo jack its just wired for mono. Guess its easier for them to only need to buy one kind of jack.
