Hi, Ive recently been looking for a new guitar and I have found a used Ibanez Prestige 2570 for a decent price, or so I think. The site lists it as one but I really need some of UG's ibanez experts to take a quick loo kat the picture provided to give me anymore insight on how old it is, how it compares to the 2008 version of the guitar and if it is really even a 2570 or it's just a mistake by the store. Anyways any assistance would be really appreciated.

Judging from that picture, it's a legit Ibanez RG2570EXVSL (VSL means 'Vital Silver').

These guitars were made around 2004 and come with a matching headstock, as opposed to later EVSL's which all seem to have a non-matching one.

The one you posted is pretty similar to the 2570ZVSL made today, although the one your looking at has no wedge sharktooth inlays and the 2008 model has the new Edge Zero trem, instead of the Edge Pro on the earlier models. The pickups on both guitars are DiMarzio/IBZ, although the specific model names are different.

Quality wise they're very similar, though.

One note about the serial number: while they can be used to (roughly) date a guitar and to determine where it was made, they aren't the best way to check if it's legit.

By the way, it could also be a 2003 RG2570ECPK (Cyber pink); it looks pretty similar in terms of color and due to my slight color blindness I can't really tell them apart.

Here are the catalog shots:

You've read it, you can't un-read it!

playing by yourself is like masturbating, sure it feels great, but it's nothing compared to the real deal.

I think its less of a worry that its fake and more of a worry that the staff has just listed it wrong and since I live a fair distance away it would be annoying to ship it back. But from what ive heard here it looks like the real deal. Just worried about the lack of fret markers.

Looks legit to me, probobly around an '04 judging by headstock. Im not sure whether it would be better than todays 2570s, because the Trems are different and i havent had a chance to check out the Edge Zero.

Edge pro's are pretty solid trems anyways.
