after turning on the amp and playing a while, my tube amp starts making popping noises even though i use headphones.
- the noise doesn't come through the headphones.
- i can stop the noise by switching to standby mode.
what's wrong with it?
tube problem?
fuse problem?
CIRCUIT PROBLEM?!
SOS!

May need bias-ing if it's new, or new tubes if it's old....

I bought a Bugera the other week, bastards didn't bias it in the factory...

Don't want to insult your intelligence, but how exactly are you running an f-30 through headphones? I wasn't aware it had a headphone jack.

...Hmm.. Have you ALWAYS used headphones?
Sounds like a speaker problem to me but if you haven't been using it...

^ yes, most of the time since i live in a dorm but i occasionally i blast it when i feel rude.
why do you think that by NOT using the speaker, it goes nuts when i bypassed it through the Silent Record Mute Switch?

To determine if it's a tube prob, turn it on and run it like you always do. Then just keep an eye on the back of the amp when the popping starts up. If one of the tubes is flickering, there's your culprit.

ok, so i diagnosed using the amp's own speaker. the 2 el84 power amp tubes flicker a bit of blue light when the amp started "popping".
change them?

yes def change them. that means your power tubes are going out and also check/change your fuse as well.

^ how do you check the fuse?

you should have a fuse spot on the back of the amp. should say "fuse" or somthing on it. it either unscrews like a knob or might be somthing you have to unscrew with a screw driver or somthing. then pull out the fuse and check to if its blown or getting kinda brown. if it is replace it.

^ that's it? blown as in broken?

yep. it may not be blown/broken. but its always a good idea to check it when you change out power tubes. just in case, you know?

checked. not blown nor brown. so it's gotta be the tubes.
