SKIP TO BOTTOM IF UNPREPARED FOR WALL OF TEXT

Well, my amp currently is a crummy 10W Epiphone one that came with the guitar, so I am looking to get a new amp. I would really appreciate help, since this is my first time actually purchasing a new amp and I don't know too much about it. Here's the details:

- I have a budget of $250, and I am NOT going over it, it was originally $200 but I'm willing to go up to $250.

- I would like the amp to be about 30W.

- I would like it to have decent clean channels, or at least ones that have very little fuzz or hum.

- I would also like the distortion to have little fuzz or hum, with good crunch especially.

- I play a variety of genres; rock, metal, metalcore, prog, hardcore, indie...

- My top list of bands I'd like the amp to emulate include: Alter Bridge, Rise Against, The Fall of Troy, Coheed and Cambria, Opeth, Death Cab for Cutie, Dinosaur Jr., Winter Solstice, and Dream Theater, and if it could possible pull off most or all of these sounds it'd be GREAT.

- The amp I'm currently looking to get is a Peavey Vypyr 30W Combo, but I'm open to suggestions if you have them.

Basically, I play metal and prog ranging mainly including The Fall of Troy, Opeth and Coheed and Cambria, and I'm looking to get a new amp that's 30W and under $250.

Thanks a heap!

If you mean an MG... ergh.

I'm not sure what low end Marshall means... MG, DSL or whatever? Those?

But saving money is a good idea. However you seem set on your decision, so a Roland Cube should work out for ya pretty well.

How about them Crates?

They also have 50w and 18w going cheaper than these.

Solid state amps, I'd reccomend the Peavey Vypyr. I've heard good things about them.

Or a Marshall MG?

I've played one of these, and it's better than people make them up to be. At least the one I played.
