so i decided to start learning to improvise. ive learned some scales, but im not sure how to put it. i know the scale but cant "apply it"? i can play the scale but i cant do anything with them. take the pentatonic scale for example. i can play it, but cant pull anything of my own out of it. any comments, opinions?

just keep practicing
improv takes a while to get good at
while your improvising (if your improvising over chords) try to create melodies/riffs that sound good with the chord progressions

You've memorized where some notes are on the fretboard and some fingering. But,
you don't KNOW the scale, and therefore don't know how to apply it. You've only
just begun learning about the scale.
