hey guys. ive been looking into recordign music and ive found that with a simple 1/4th-1/8th jack i can plug and record. I know it sounds like shit but i'm equipped with audacity and WinAmp. Anyway i was lookign for some good jacks and approximate prices.

Also, i heard that plugging and recording directly to the comp witht eh jack damages the guitar, mostly the pick-ups. some elaboration please.

search RadioShack.com dude.
They are all the same basically. $5 maybe.
What do you mean - how 'used is it'? That makes no sense. It is a very simple item and cheap.

Also, personally, I don't think it is going to sound all that great unless you have a new high end computer with a special sound card that can handle your signal. Computers like 44hz and 24 bit stuff, which is not what your guitar is sending.

People do it tho. Go to a store and buy one.

(sorry if i came off as rude. Luckily I didn't respond last night as I was going to - I'll just say that).

the single comes from the pickups, not to it, so it cant damage it.

try the line in not the mic in first.

some amps sound better than others.

like said, also depnds on the sound card you're using.

also, start your computer speakers and amp volume low at first. you dont want to make them buzz too much.
