Ok. So, we have to have our work experience placements organised by thursday and me being somewhat lazy, havent. I spoke to a recording studio a few weeks back and they said theyd get back to me and havent and now i have nowhere to go. Can anybody give me some SERIOUS suggestions on what i could do?

EDIT: Yes, I am well aware that the pit is not a good place to ask for serious suggestions but it is my last hope!

Sorry, I've only got unserious suggestions. Like being a street prostitute, squirrel hunter or led zeppelin bandmember.

Well where are you interested in going? What are your hobbies, favourite subjects, aspirations in life?

You have to call them. I had to call my future boss four friggin' times before I got to meet him and get hired.
These people are busy and sometimes very confused.

Really, I'd like to do something music associated. Im not really interested by anything else as a carreer t the moment.

Try a music shop?
Work as a guitar tech?

+1

It takes a lot more than just putting in an application for a job. Your need to take initiative.

Get on the damn phone and start making some calls. Jobs don't appear as gifts, lots of places are willing to take Co-op students, but you have to get off the couch and call them.
#16
I didnt do either of mine, i put in about 5 applications to various music stores and 3 didnt even reply, 1 said they didnt take kids and the other just said no.....

i must be a bad person
Music is an art form that celebrates potential. So long as you're looking for it, you'll always find it.

Work in a cemetary.

Edit..

And bury something in a grave, then write instructions on how to find it, and scatter the instructions about the church.

believe me, pick something your not going to regret and read the job description properly if you have a booklet with all the job titles,
i picked this graphic design job thinking id be drawing and shit, turns out it was for a printing assistent for a "graphic design" company.
i was either doing litterally nothing all day or i was printing and folding THOUSANDS of chinese menus, all this for 2 weeks and one of the guys who worked there was suicidal and another guy got fired lol
if you cant find anything just work in a shop stacking shelves

Recording studio is shit-boring. You don't really get to try anything. The bands are paying for a professional, not some kid to mess around with their EQs. It's really a lot of standing around and watching.

I was hoping to work in a porn shop or at least clean top shelf magazines in a newsagent or something.

Agreed. You better hone up on your coffee making skills, and abilities to track down fast food for ungrateful engineers.

Get in touch with your local radio station. Phone them up, hassle them but don't make a prick of yourself. Jobs and work experience don't just happen you have to be willing to make the effort.

Work experience at a guitar shop=boring. I know, I did it.

Then for my year 12 work experience I went to the legal department of my local council and it was awesome, and looks good on an application.

Try radio, music shops, recording studios (my friend went to one of these, and said it sucked) I don't know...

Call the Radio Station. A local one obviously.

The closest radio station i can think of is ages away, at least 30-45 minutes on a train and then a 10 minute bus ride

Go to a charity shop, they'll be happy to have an extra pair of hands and you'll be doing a good thing. Don't worry that it doesn't relate to your eventual career path, no-one really cares about work experience once it's done, and if you need something to put on your CV, you can get work experience that your school isn't involved with.
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.
