whats up? I need a really cheap way to amplify a mic for garage practices. Can I run the mic through a powered pre-amp and then get an xlr to male rca adaptor and then plug it into an old receiver that I have? Am I missing something? I know its very ghetto, but I just need to amplify vocals at the moment. how good would the sound quality be through this set up? I do have access to a real mixer and PA system for gigs, but borrowing it for every practice is not feasible. Or, any cheap suggestions ($150-$200)?

ive done that before, if you have a preamp it should sound fine as long as the receiver isnt messed up. and as long as it is powerful enough to hear over everything else
