Do you guys think that Jackson guitars have gone down in quality since Fender took over? Or do you think the quality has stayed relatively the same?

its gone down, fender wants fender to be the best..jackson became a name to make them more cash, and thats a very bad thing.....someone go win the effin loto and make Jackson ...Jackson again!!!!!!

I Think the lower end Jacksons have gone
lower, but the higher end seem to have stayed
the same, but im not much of a 'wood quality' person.
With any luck, Jackson might be more versatile.

They definatly went way down in quality, thats why I switched to Ibanez. You don't have to pay $3000 bucks for a good quality guitar.

That doesnt make much sense. Jackson is aimed at metal\shred and Fender is aimed at blues\rock. If a potential Jackson buyer\ metalhead noticed quality is down they won't turn to Fender, they'll go to Ibanez, ESP,or Scheter.

It's all gone down the drain man.

Fender sacked the entire crew of hard rockers at Jackson, and picked a bunch of overweight hippies from their own factory to take their place. First change to the product line were the "slowhand" and "cripplefinger" neck profiles. Shortly after, Candy Ass Red and Smurf Green replaced cool finishes like Gun METAL Grey.

Next, Fender hired goons that went to Finland and stole the epic weapons of Alexi Laiho. Those were custom Jacksons, made in the days of glory, when METAL ruled the lands. When in panic Alexi called Jackson up to get replacements, they presented him with a custom Jackson Jazzmaster. Disgusted, Laiho left for ESP.

In order to appease the aggravated fan base, Fender hired a Mike Shannon lookalike (the TRUE fans know that the legend Mike Shannon died in Madagascar in 1999, under mysterious circumstances). For a while, it looked like Fender would revive the Jackson brand to its former glory, BUT:

Soon the mighty Duncan humbuckers were changed out in favor of traditional Fender pickups all across the product line. White 3-ply pickguards appeared where there used to be anodized METAL pickguards. Fender (damn them to HELL!) is on a mission to extinguish metal music, and it was with this goal in mind they bought out Jackson. All Rhoads guitars are now hollowbodies. It is no longer possible to play metal on a Jackson, and shred is out of the question completely.

The only thing that changed is the waiting time for a CS Jackson. For the rest: they remained exactly the same.

Another quote from the same JCF forums about this subject:

But put it into perspective; Akai owned Jackson before Fender did. At least Fender has made guitars for 50 years; Akai was making Reel-to-Reel recorders when Fender was in its heydey.

Before that, IMC owned Jackson - the same company that also owned Hondo. "Dude, I own a Hondo-era Soloist! It's the SHIT!"

Point is, Jackson made great guitars through all of those eras, no matter who owned the company. They still do."
