When I watch a YouTube video with Firefox, it loads to about 60%, and stops. The video doesn't load anymore, no matter what I try.

I don't have this problem with Safari.

I don't have this problem with Internet Explorer.

Only with Firefox.

Solutions?

I don't think it's possible for a web browser to be mentally challenged. Are you sure it's not you who's retarded?

i have actually had that problem on safari. and it seems to happen on the same videos i watch. not all videos are like that though and it doesn't happen too often

It's Firefox deciding that the video isn't worth your time to watch all the way through. Firefox is never wrong.

Use opera...

Seriously, do it.

FF > Chrome Beta > Opera > Safari > IE.

Truth.
Anyone who rates FF higher than Opera hasn't used it to its full potential.

Ugh, that browser honestly has the worst interface of any browser ever. It looks like it belongs on a 14 year old's linux installation.

I do like some of it's features, but as a whole FF > World.

Also, ITT: My browser is more obscure than your browser.

Oh god the nerdery get me out.

My take on this?

Firefox is telling you to stop watching videos of young girls dancing on youtube and read a book or go make friends or something.

I used FF2 for over a year.

2 weeks ago I dual booted Ubuntu on this box which has FF3 as its default browser.

Today I installed Opera 9.61 on it.

Firefox is gone again.

The difference between Opera and Firefox is that Operas features are just so much tighter than FF addons, which often feel very tacked on.

The side-bar add-on that supposedly emulates the Opera sidebar is a joke, the fast-dial add-on that supposedly emulates the Opera speed dial is slow and clunky, takes longer to load the dial and the images on the dial are at shit-splatter resolution by default. The mouse gestures took longer execute.

You can't have the address bar at the foot of the page. You can't have a "search in page" dialogue without ctrl+F.

The one advantage FF has over Opera, that I can see, is that middle-click scrolling is faster.

I'm sure there's more I could dredge up, but I'll just hug Opera instead.

I've never had problems with FF, kicks the crap out of explorer

Those are all neat things but I prefer firefox because of the plug-ins. I'm sure there are some equievlants for opera, but I'd rather not scour through the internet for an image exif viewer, wikipedia lookup extension, video downloader e.t.c.

I've customized my FF to the extent that I'd need some real persuasion to switch browser, and opera is just kind of the same thing, but without my customization.

(And yes, I do realize how nerdy this sounds).

chances are most of the things you need a plug-in for FF are native (and better implemented) in Opera.
