I have been looking at a guitar for sometime know, I'm not gonna say what it is because I don't want to sway opinions, but I have $700, and im looking for a good guitar. I play everything, I play metal, I do lots of cleans, and I am in a punk band(mostly powerchords and open chords), so UG what would you recomend?

sounds like a job for a mexican fat strat. humbucker for metal, and singles for cleans.

p.s. i just recently saw fight club. amazing movie.

I came up with this kick ass riff on my ukelele when I was 12. Find out two years later, it was smoke on the water. Got my hopes and dreams killed..

see if you can find a used gibson sg classic. i would imagine that it is perfect for the music you play. p90s are ****ing awesome.

or, if you don't mind, get an epiphone G400 or a les paul standard plus and swap the pickups and maybe electronics and tuners?

edit: i jsut remembered. if you can stretch you budget by 50 bucks you will be able to get a schecter c-1 classic. really versatile, awesome guitar.

or a C-1 Plus, you save 100 bucks to spend on other things like amps, pedals, pickups?

If I were you I'd go for a used Les Paul BFG. Should be great for what you're playing.

go for a schecter c1-classic, had one and it is the one of the most versatile guitars ive ever played
Gear:

the schecter is what I was looking at, and it is between the C-1 Classic, or the C-1 Hellraiser (which I really like because of the active EMG 81/89, which can be coil tapped for awesome cleans!)

Can I ask why? Because there are three Fenders I think'd be perfect for you.

Keeping that in mind though, I'd recommend an Epiphone Les Paul of some sort, or a PRS SE Tremonti.
