is a peavey classic 30 good? i heard it has good cleans but the distortion is not heavy enough for metal. would a distortion pedal like metal muff sound good or boosting the amps distortion with a overdrive pedal? and if u are using the amps distortion and an overdrive pedal how do u change to cleans immediately?

It isn't heavy enough for metal, But as far as overdrive goes it sounds great. I'm sure a decent pedal would give it a good metal tone. As for switching to clean, you can get the foot switch to switch between channels and then just turn the pedal off.
This is my signature. There are many like it but this one is MINE.
