Peavey 6505, Triple XXX & JSX are all a bit more than a grand and are great for metal

Ok before i criticize for halfstack request i will ask.

What is your current gear. Do you play in a band? Do you play big shows in which there is no PA system?

what's your budget...
and you are aware that 100watts can kill a whale?

definetly... i ride a Laney HCM30 (30 watts... obviously) and i m ust say i've never put it higher than 4 (you know, the volume knob... obviously too)...

anyway, i have the same question, i'd like to know about metal amps, not really care about the wattage, though. just to have an idea, 'cause i am poor... i think a peavey or a JCM marshall would kick ass...

A thousand for just head or head + cab.

Carvin v3 + avatar 2x12 or used 2x12 somewhere.

Shouldnt take you past 1200
#12
well i play thrash.....groove..... death
i play in a band, but i am using my drummers shite stuff and i need a good amplification system. the wattage does not matter, i was just supposing. i havent a clue about these damn things lol

What the hell kind of metal do you play?

For the kind that I play, a Marshall 2204 with a fuzz.

Or a Matamp GTL.

But I don't know if you play that kind of metal.

... you dunno what to do with 1000 Us$?! hell, i live in argentina where 1 dollar= 3,35 pesos, so i can make less than 1/3 the cash you make for the same work... i thought i was making money winning quite 120Us$ per month... but you have 1000 Us$ and you ask other people how to spend/waste it...

Wants to killo me more than killing you though

For brutal metal, look into randall amps, they sell relatively cheap tube/SS half stacks

I have the Randall Rx120RH (yes, I have a low budget...) but its great for its price AND IS A HALF STACK!!

Randall is great for the metal (especially stuff like Cannibal Corpse, deicide, nile, Suffocation, etc.) brutal shit

This is slightly off topic, but what ever happened to the B-52 Stealth series? They were like the step up from the AT series if I remember correctly....

If you can find one used, I would personally look for one of those... Just me though.

no, just no. With $1000, you should not be looking at a valve king.

take a look at this

I really like the idea of the Engl Thunder's, I'm considering buying one sometime in the future, or another amp dedicated towards cleans and the 6505 of mine for the br00talz.
I recommend the 6505 though, awesome amp for sure with an EQ and boost on the normal gain input, though with just a noise gate of some sort and straight in to the high gain input, you can get an amazingly raw rhythm and lead tone with the 6505+ (seperate EQ's makes things a bit easier).
