i've got a epi g-400 and the pick ups are a bit muddy
i was wondering if changing them would help

i play blues, classic/hard rock and a tiny bit of metal so....

(srv, hendrix, ac/dc, gnr, metallica sort of thing)

i know i need to change my amp. as for an amp eventually i'm looking to get a fender blues deluxe reissue but they're £450 so that'll take a while to save up for.

so its better to save for amp than pickups?

Yeah, the G-400 is barely worth upgrading anyway
