hi guys

i got a peavey valveking 212 over the summer. the cleans on it are beautliful, but the overdrive channel sounds really muddy, as if theres like a blanket over the speakers. i dont know how to get around this, as i only want a light overdrive from it. its just too bassy, even thiugh i've turned thge bass down low.

so all i really want is some settings which have worked for others, just something i can dial in and then work on for my personal taste from there.

cheers

crank your mids?
that might help a little bit with muddiness

The VK's stock speakers are notorious for having more mud than a Louisianian swamp... or at least rival them. You could either swap out your speakers or purchase an EQ pedal - either or both of these will clear up the mud.

the best way to get rid of my in my experience is to get a bad monkey. really tightens things up. If you cant afford one turn on the gain boost and put lower the gain.

but +1 to IP. check the valveking thread which is currently on the first page.

I fixed it by cutting back my gain to 5, bass to 6, mids around 9.5, and treble around 7.

Great tone.
