Right my band ar recording our album in December and then doing a 15-date tour in January/February so I'll need a backup guitar alongside my Jackson RR3
At the moment I'm leaning towards an Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos (with a trem swap)

I just want to hear what other recommendations you can throw at me

I'll be running it into my Peavey 6505+ head, very high-gain modern metal tone

My budget is up to £500 ($1000)
24 frets would be ideal with a locking trem and bridge/neck humbuckers (no preference to active/passive)
Neck-thru would sweeten the deal as well

Schecter makes some quality stuff. Does it have to be a 7?

No, I'm only looking for a 6-string at the moment

Personally I loved the Xiphos that I played. I'd say go with it.

Wait until he's trying the fullstack, then shove it from behind. Crushing him with it's overdrive

You can't tune a LP copies down. Some kind of lawsuit Gibson won. Sorry.
You seem to prefer thinner necks, so I'll skip recommending Schecter. Maybe an ESP? I don't know how much they cost over there though. I'm thinking an EC-1000 FR or MH-1000, both are mahogany w/ maple top, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 24 frets, OFR, and EMGs. Other than that, another Ibanez. Let's see... Xiphos with a trem swap like you mentioned, RG2550Z, RG1570, etc. Lots of options for you from Ibanez.
