So we have heard the full-length single, and we have heard Shackler's Revenge. if not, link: http://www.imeem.com/gunsnroses/music/ZDPzX2B2/guns_n_roses_chinese_democracy/

So, what do you guys think?

My personal opinion is that Axl has wasted 15 years and millions of dollars on an attempt to copy Nine Inch Nails.

My very first reaction to hearing Shackler's Revenge was, " REALLY Axl, REALLY? This is all you have to show for 15 years?"

Now, I am putting all my hard feelings for Axl aside in this, and am focusing completely on the music, but this is utter crap.

I really feel like Axl has wasted the best years of his vocals with this attempt to control everything.

I was honestly hoping it would be good, but I honestly just don't like the two songs from CD I have heard.

And this bullcrap to sell it exclusively at Best Buy? The closest Best Buy to my house is an hour away! I really don't like all the commercialism that has come into the music business lately, (yes, I am criticizing AC/DC too for selling their album exclusively at Walmart).

If this were a totally new band, I would have simply forgotten them after hearing Chinese Democracy for the first time. It just sounds so wretchedly generic and self-indulgent.

Note in this criticism that I have put all of my personal feelings about the demise of the real Guns N Roses aside to fairly critique the music.

On an unrelated note, I really hope Velvet Revolver finds a new singer soon, and a damn good one.
He's a freak of nature, but we love him so.

Music isn't the Olympics. It's not about showing other people what you can do with a piece of wood in your hands that has strings on, it's about making sounds that are good.

I'm also pretty disappointed. Shackler's Revenge was just lousy. I thought the intro to Chinese Democracy was sorta cool, but it all fell through as soon as the verse came in.

Overall, just loads and loads of disappointment.

+1. I'm really hoping the other songs are better, if not, then it will be the biggest waste of 15 years ever. Surely with so many professional musicians he could have things like that written quite fast?
