Well, as we're not moving anymore, our family has a spare £50,000 in the bank. My dad thought this would be a good opportunity to get me a new guitar

I was planning on getting an American Standard Tele, but I'm not sure. If you could give me any suggestions for guitars, they would be greatly appreciated

I play mainly Blues stuff, but sometimes garage or rock.

Influences include White Stripes, Raconteurs, Reef, Stevie Wonder and Gomez.

Budget is under £999

hahaha, I've always wanted to get a gibson firebird, that's about your price range. it's a weird shape, which turns people off allot, but who knows, it might suit you.

The new American Standards are supposed to be really good, although I've never played one. You should try them out, they have some pretty nice colours on them too

American Standards don't do it for me. The deluxe ones feel a lot better and sturdier to me, the AM deluxe strat is still in your price range:

If you can talk your parents into dishing out 30 pounds extra, you can get the AM deluxe tele. If you go for an AM standard guitar, better pick one with a maple fingerboard, the ones with rosewood feel rough and give you an unpleasant feel. That's not (or not so often) the case with AM deluxe guitars.

Best guitar in it's price range, end of. It sounds quite different from a Fender tele because of the humbuckers and the weird (but hella comfortable) neck joint. Best sustain I've ever heard from a tele. It has a coil split function, if that matters to you. The neck is a bit fatter than on fenders, but feels really nice because of the oil finish. The only problem possibly is the bridge humbucker, it might be too hot for your styles of music (it's a Duncan JB).

If you like semi-acoustics. It too has the Duncan JB, so might be a little too hot. It is otherwise a typical semi-acoustic (but a damn good one!).

I don't think I have to write much about this one. One of the few Gibsons that have a good 'bang for buck' ratio. Please don't go for an SG Special instead, the fretboards on these are horrible. This guitar is much better, though it's a shame it doesn't come with a pair of the higher end Gibson humbuckers.

Got any money yourself?

If you could find an extra 300 lying around, you could get a Gretsch Duo Jet (proper one)
Or an American Deluxe tele, which are wonderful.
OR an American Deluxe Ash tele for £100 more, which I have one of, and which is the sexiest beast that's not made by Gretsch on this planet
