Ite UG'ers.
I want to "invest" in a bass guitar, i already play electric guitar and i'm pretty good, but now i want a bass guitar to play around with.
i was looking at Squier Presisions. Good?
Budget = £130-£150.
I dont need an amp or anything because my local guy in the shop said i can use my normal amp as long as i play it quietly.
I like playing Rock, Alternative and metal.

could you get up to 200? cause then your into the vintage modified squiers which are brilliant
btw, dont use the guitar amp, even at low volume (it just leads to trouble)

Yes, you do need a bass amp. A guitar amp will always sound foul (no low end) and even at low volumes, the speakers get damaged. They just get damaged more slowly.

difficult with that budget. id go ashdown practice amp for value at low price. leaves you with roughly 100-120 for a bass which is tough territory

Not quite, 120 would get him a squier p bass, which, unlike their electric guitar counterparts, are actually quite good. And last time I checked, they weren't that expensive.

Oh, and could you give me a link the the ashdown you're talking about?

Have you considered a used bass? Here (across the pond) we have pawn shops. Even in the little town I live in, I found a nice Ibanez (SR400) with a good hardshell case for $200 US. The Squier Precision was even cheaper at $125 US , but only came with a gig bag.
