TALENT SHOW

I'm playing just by myself, no jackass band members playing gayass punk songs this year. I'll be doing a cover of an instrumental song, mostly solo, but dont know what to pick YET.

I'm thinking of going with tradition and playing Eruption, but I've been practicing the Ride the Lightning solo for a couple of weeks now and I can play the solo at literally 90% full speed, thanks to Audacity. I was thinking of mixing a short version of the song and playing a cover of it, but are there any other shredzorz songs that the Pit recommends? Any speed will do, since I can slow it down and tab it myself with Audacity.

"Cliffs of Dover" has the advantage of being well-known to the audience of a typical high-school-age talent show.

Do Layla, either versions, tehy're both ear-pleasing.
I think its time to pack your things lets go,
To a place where we both know,
And dont worry, I'll drive real slow,
Spend some time before we go..

Play something nice and fast on the acoustic, as in like fast classical changing music.
Something out of the ordinary wows, and if you shred on an acoustic, you would even impress other electric players in the audience. But really its all your choice.

If you're going that direction, play "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls.

No "Cliffs," huh? How about something acoustic? Maybe some classical guitar, or some Rodrigo Y Gabriela or somesuch.

Orion sounds really promising. I could shorten it and just have the solos be the bulk of the song. I can play all the bass parts by heart and the is just badass.

I'll give any metal suggestions a listen.

Pirates of The Caribbean. Like that asian kid on youtube that's like 11. Or Cliffs of Dover.
#23
as far as shreddzors goes, how bout some adapted classical?

turkish march, amirite?

Personally though, Id go for an acoustic solo kinda deal, some John Butler instrumental or Andy McKee, quality shit.

EDITh I saw orion mentioned somewhere there. Good call :P

I'd recommend The Call of Ktulu, which could easily be shortened, and, imo, is the best Metallica instrumental.
Begin again in the night, let's sway again tonight.
Your arm on my shoulder, your cheek against mine.
Where can we go, when will we find that, we know.

Play Scarified, or Satch Boogie.

+1 to Satch Boogie

Or maybe some big long solo where you just rip out some Dimebag shreds...
Hold the Heathen hammer high!
