I've been playing for almost two years. I'm more of a punk.pop type of person, but I've always loved a 'musical' type of metal (ie, more harmonies, etc etc)

I have come to love Trans-siberian orchestra over the years, and i wonder, what is their setup, or what do you think?

I was leaning towards a noise gated extremely overdriven amp, because the distortion is so musical and clean and smooth..

but then again couldn't it just be some kind of high gain pedal with a noise gate on it? focus on the lead guitarist, btw.

what do you all think?

The questions people ask here makes me wonder how the TS's dress themselves in the morning and can shower without drowning...
Id say its just distortion, compression, and a noise gate.
The smoothness sounds just like an articulate neck pickup like the air norton.
