So its going to be Christmas time soon! Yay, With the budget my parents have given me, I cant get the amp i want So I figured I'd get a 7 string, since Ive always wanted one. I've tried the Ibanez RG7321 and I really like the feel to it, I think its the one for me. I want to replace the pick ups right away, and give it a more appealing look since i have an RG370dx, which looks almost the same. Now, to show you the guitar i want to make out of it;

(Pics taken from Dream Theaters "Lie" video)

I've decided that I'm going to go with a D Sonic 7 in the Bridge and an Evo 7 in the neck. Both green, or half green and black. I have found the green knobs and such on ebay, which i will buy eventually.

This is where your help comes in, I need to have something green on the head stock, or else its going to look weird. I believe that the ibanez logo and the inlays on that guitar is green too,

Is there anyway I could turn the logo or the inlays on the RG7321 green?

Well I imagine you could give it a clear coat of lacquer that has been tinted with green,

You could spraypaint the washers, I doubt it would do any harm

you dont think that it would eventually flake off and look like crap? I dont think the spray paint would stick very well to smooth metal.

Well, people spraypaint metal things all the time, as far as I know. You could probably finish it with something

Spraypainting the washers will work if you use paint designed for metal.

Well you would be doing it over a black headstock, so I dont think you would notice it that much.

exactly, paint that bonds to metal, make sure you get some that bonds

dude,
you don't necessarily have to build it.

the guitar Petrucci is using in that video is most likely the Ibanez Universe,

you could just find and buy that model

^ If you try and buy an Ibanez green dot universe, its going to cost you a fair amount

You didn't know they made spray paint for metal?

Really?

To expand on the green lacquer idea, buy some lacquer primer for metal, but some green lacquer, and buy some clear lacquer. Then apply them according to the instructions on the can.

I recommend duplicolor, krylon (the old ones), rust-oleum, or any other lacquer for metal.

Almost all spray paints will work on all surfaces. They will say on the can though.
