This is probably really stupid to ask, but I just got a BOSS DS1 Distortion pedal, and I'm wondering what I should play first. Most of the songs I know are played on a metal zone, not distortion. Anyone got any ideas/settings I can use to get a good sound out of it?

True. But It hasn't sounded great. It's super mega fuzzy and I'm thinking cause I have the tone too high

those things can be... lol yeah. mess around with it and your amp eq and see what you can come up with! I'd say tone at like 1/4 level at half and dist. anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4
...because the last thing the world needs is another metal guitarist.

Me.

My band.

I like Fall Out Boy. I don't like you.

I like tone at 9 o'clock, level a bit past 12, and distortion at max with the amp breaking up a bit. Then use the volume knob of your guitar to alternate between rhythm and lead. This is loud as hell tho, fyi, but it gives nice lead sounds IMO. I use a Keeley DS1 btw, so your mileage may vary.
Want: EH Deluxe Memory Man, Warmoth Strat, Budda Superdrive 45
