Hey all.. looking to upgrade my amp (Roland Cube 30)

my budget is around £200 (could possible go up to around £230 - £250)

I dont know much about amps so.. il tell you what i play =]

I'm in a band for starters so.. i guess im gonna need some wattage of around 50-ish??

we play hard rock mostly, havnt started gigging yet but might be soon

ive also heard tube amps are the things to go for and that marshall MG's are s*** so.. anyone got any ideas??

P.S the amp doesnt need effects il probs buy some stompboxes or something =]

and im lead guitar if that makes any difference =]

EDIT: £500 to spend on upgrading gear for christmas =]

so i wonna spend roughly that ammount n an amp.. rough £50 - £100 on wahwah pedal and the rest on stompboxes

thx UG

Try a Fender Frontman 65 R, 65 watts. Ridiculously loud, you could probably get the double speaker one for £200 as well, if you really want to crank it to eleven.

Oh yeah and it sounds great.l

This is terrible advice.

What would be your budget in american dollars?

you've just recommended an amp that isn't as good as his current amp, just louder, basically.

my advice would be to try to get a used Laney VC30 or LC30 - for hard rock preferably the LC30. Both are 30 watts but both are as loud as they'll need to be - tube amps generally get a lot more 'volume-per-wattage' than solid states.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

Probably gonna need to look used in that price range. Especially if you expect to gig soon.
