I was wondering if anybody knew how i could improve a little on my GSR200 bass it sounds pretty horrible and i think some of the aspects of it may be off, how should i go about adjusting it without having to take it into a shop?

That's generally a low-end bass but with a good amp it can sound good. What kind of strings are on it? I use Rotosound and they make a difference.

im using a fender pr499, strings might be the problem since ive been using the same strings the bass came with for a year, i have some fatties laying around so i guess ill try restringing it and see if that works

Stock strings are usually not that great. Not changing them for a year is even worse. Get some Rotosounds or Elixirs, those will last a while.
