But, what the hell do you mean by 'complete shred'?
Ridiculous speed, playing as fast as you can, basically, I would assume.

That solo was full of wank, but I'll give the man credit for throwing in some slower, melodic phrases. Those sounded quite good, and with a bit less "ridiculizing" the fretboard, that could have been a great solo.

Impellitteri's about as "complete shred" as it gets. Shredding for inordinate amounts of time and calling it a solo is his trademark

There's always this nice little commercial from Jeff Loomis of Nevermore:

Wait 'til about 0:20 or so.

Not really. There are much better people and songs for "complete shred", as the TS puts it.

EDIT:
"Groove or Die" by Andy Timmons.
I'd post a video of it, but there aren't any except for some crappy Youtube covers.

That too
Loomis is a sweep picking master (general shred too).

Also, if you skip past the mocking/talking part, then this guy is pretty constant shred:

most of these entries don't count. You said song, not just a single solo. Which is why Nottingham wins, becasue the only other one pretty much sunked.

Jeff loomis is freaking crazy and just disgustingly good.
Keep in mind he's also been playing for 20+ years
