im looking for a set of flatwound 11 or 12 gauge strings. i have the daddiario (sp?) chromes, but the chrome is too mellow. im looking for a bit more twang, id prefer not to go with a lighter string. so, can someone suggest some strings?

heres the prerequisite...
epi lp, worship, country/bluegrass, southern rock.

First, sure you need flatwounds? You didn't say so or not.

Second, getting more twang on an LP of any make will be hard. The classic twang sound, associated with a Telecaster, is in part due to it's longer scale length than a Gibson model, which is what the Epi is designed to. In addition, humbuckers aren't great for twangy sounds--single coils or P-90s are far better for that sound.

That's not to say you can't get it--you can turn up your treble and tone knobs and still get a twangy tone out of an LP. But changing EQs and strings, in all honesty, will never get you as close as changing guitars. I'm not saying ditch the LP, just know its limitations in this kind of game.
'Cause I have done it before and I will do it some more....
