i borrowed my neighbors Korg CA-30 tuner and it died...i bought new Duracell batteries...standard AAA batteries you know popped em in...nothing, i tried them on my old tuner...nothing, and that tuner works still...what kinda batteries do i need to get for this thing or did i break it...i dont think i did because my old tuner still works with the old batteries it has...and like i said when i put the new duracell in the old it stopped working and i put in the old and it worked...

Dude, my CA30 does that exact same thing!!!

It only works with the batteries it came with, it's weird as hell.

I'm just going to buy a CA40, it's got an output so I can just stick in in my signal chain.

i have the original's with me they are "Vinnic" batteries...it says on the bottom: UM 4 - AAA - R03 - 1.5v

the duracell is 1.5v too so i dunno why they don't work...

The problem is dimensional, not electrical. The new battery is not contacting the positive contact, which is an "S" shaped piece of wire. Open the back, remove the batteries, remove all 5 screws hold in the circuit board, lift the circuit board out slightly, and bend a slight "V" bend pointing into the case into the positive contact perpendicular to the "S" bend. Reassemble carefully and test with the new batteries. It worked for me, I hope it works for you too.
