I have a Yamaha APX-500, it is an electric-acoustic guitar.

I normally just play it without plugging it in but when I do I can never understand what the AMF setting does. I put it maxed out, strum a chord. Listen. Do the same, but then with the slider on the lowest - I can't seem to hear a big difference. Although the sound does change slightly its not enough to warrant even paying attention to it.

I play it through a punk rock amp which I know is the right amp to boot, that could be the problem.

Can anyone shed some light on this? thanks in advance.

did it come with a manual? google it? yamaha website?

I googled and Wikipedia'd it..
google just comes up with reviews for guitars with AMF settings,
wikipedia has no idea.
yamaha.com guitar section wants me to call them.. I could do that, but don't want to wait on hold for 20mintues.
