I say that because you can always learn techniques but you need to learn your styl and what you play. That is what makes a good guitarist to me.

it depends, what do you want to play? if you want to be fast, you should practice alternate picking & scales. if you like to play some nice progressions, practice strumming patterns & chords etc.

Theory and improvising.

and move "fingerpicking" to the top of the list because it would look cooler
I'm not a Bible-thumper anymore. Realized I had a brain in '09.

I like guitars, running, and math.

Ear training.

Try to play the note you hear in your head. A good way is to play a note, and then sing to yourself the next note you want to play and try to find it right away. It may take you awhile but once you get that, there are no better improvisation skill. Not to diminish the importance of musical theories, but ear training is even better than theory.
scales anc theories may help you to understand what you should play, but ear training will help you to compose it.
