Hey people
The other week i saw a Schecter Hellraiser on ebay with a starting bid of £240 which is extremely cheap seeing as they cost around £550/600 in the UK. I expected it to go for £350/400. I was pleasantly surprised when i won it for £257

I went to pick it up tonight and am amazed at the condition, its almost like new. It plays very nicely, the neck is a bit thicker than I'm used to but that's ok.

The EMG 81/85 sound amazing for lead tones but vile for cleans but that's what i was expecting so that's all good. Anyway pictures!

Do the 18v mod then you'll really see how much balls EMG's can have, especially for high gain. I always hated the tone of actives (EMG or SD) then a friend told me about the mod so I looked into it. Took the plunge finally (more like a risk) a few days ago and bought the 81/85 set. Installed them and guitar came alive with just 9v and I was happy. Then the next day I did the mod and can't put the guitar down.
Having said all that, it still doesn't come close to my '86 Focus with Seymour Duncan '78 Custom Shop model but still a great mod.

I've got a question guys, the guitar came with a rechargeable 9v battery inside, should i get a new 9v battery just because i have no idea how long this one has been in the guitar? Any ideas how long it would last, I'll obviously get a high end Duracell battery

Unless you plan on playing live and are afraid of it dying on you, just wait for the battery to run out.

and that might take up to a whole week or two, or three :P

Just change the thing. And remember to unplug your guitar when you not playing.

Well guys today i cleaned the fretboard with lemon oil and re strung it with gauge 9 D'darrio strings and it feels awesome if i had to be honest and list the major negatives for this guitar here they are, but hey remember i payed £257 for it :P

Negatives
-EMG 81/85 are fail for anything other than metal/lead tone
-The neck is slightly on the fat side
-Pickup is only 3 way selector, I've yet to find the 2nd position which splits the 2 humbuckers useful for anything

Positives
-The looks are amazing, awesome finish, amazing inlays and a beautifully designed headstock
-Plays nicely
-EMG Pickups for lead guitar
-Original Volume/Tone controls
-Build Quality

Wow, nice buy. Lots of guitar for the money!

I want a Schecter so bad. I don't even know why. Every time I pick one up I can't get over that neck. My hand just doesn't like it.

/sigh I still secretly envy anyone who has one

Hardly a big deal if it stops working in your bedroom ( you know what I mean). Just buy a spare battery, for all you know the one currently inside can be brand new or hardly played.
