ok, i need some song suggestions for my guitar lesson. it either can be metal with either a clean verse or a melodic solo (i can't shred yet), hard rock, or blues.
So far i have Ride the Lightning, The Jack, Matchbox Blues, and Simple Man

well, the epi was a gift, the strat was with my money, the evh was an experiment with an old strat, and the RG was bought used for $200

Its Not That Bad a Song In Fairness
Its just a bit different to a lot of the Stuff from the Poison and the other 2 Singles from Scream Aim Fire

You dont have to be a shred Genius to play power pop.

My Point=If your playing in bands with Similar Style to Megadeth/Yngwie then your gonna have to know how to shred. But for bands like Blink, Paramore and stuff that you may call shit, your better off being a tigher rhythm player

besides you don't see guys/girls claiming they can shred fantastically because to do it RIGHT takes many many years of practise, which by the average age of UGers, hasn't come around yet.

Ive run mine through my Grandfathers Squier Strat, then through my 600 quid tele, and there is a huge difference

i disagree slightly with this.

doesn't matter what genre you play, you should be a tight rhythm player before being a great lead player. If you can't play rhythm, you can't play lead

simple as that.

Try "Children of the Grave" then, the cover version by Ozzy where Randy Rhoads plays it. Not really a hard solo, in fact, I don't think it had a solo.

well, a strat and a tele are very different. try a $1000 strat and a $50 strat then tell me they on't sound the same.
