I find that weird and strange music like Aphex Twin or Catch 33 from Meshuggah makes me very happy. but most people I show this music to dont like it, call it weird or noise. Is there a reason why I am so enticed by music most people do not like? do other people have this problem, that the music they love isnt seen as beauty, but as noise?

Yeah dude I listen to The Number 12 Looks Like You and everyone that i show it to is all like...

"dude how can you listen to this stuff"

Blah! just listen to it anyway.

I like stuff like that

John Frusciante's music while he was on heroin is the trippiest stuff ever made with a 4 track but at the same time.. extremely beautiful.
I don't even shred

Ahh man!

I would say that the unorthodoxy of the music is what draws you to it, and drives your pals away.

My mate's vinyl had a locked groove and we sat there for about 10 minutes listening to those 2 seconds of Windowlicker on loop.

And back to the original subject: Yep, I get a lot of "It's just noise" but considering they more often than not say that about Merzbow it's not too great of an insult.

there just seems to be such a good pull to weirdo music.

its music which to me is moving and yet doesnt have a huge following
#19
ya lol i have the same problem

my friends think im straight ****ed lol

Meshuggah, ISIS, Sunn o))), Aggaloch, you name it.

EDIT: WOOOOOOWWW just checked out Merzbow and the song im listening to sounds like it was recorded inside a car while it was being sprayed with water at a manual car wash.

It's not noise. There's a genre dedicated to actual noise. Guess what it's called? That's right - Noise.

Aphex Twin are awesome so... pfft @ everyone else

Some of my music would be considered 'strange' but feck it.

EDIT: ^^^ 'BOYIZ IN THE TEAL TEAM'?!

TS, your music isn't that "weird" to be honest, but compared to what most non-musically-pedantic people listen to today, they find it extremely odd. Like in Catch 33's case, it's very harsh and discordant in some sections, which is why they'd call it "noise".

My friend said Primus sucked so I stabbed him in the eye with a pencil. Turns out it's the band's motto

Aphex Twin ftw.

Boards of Canada > Aphex Twin
in terms of ambient stylings

I mean, honestly, Geogaddi is simply the most amazing and mind oozing ambient record ever released.

I feel that nothing will ever top it.

I understand you a little, TS. I happen to like Mindless Self Indulgence, it's such a different sound but I like them. Lots of other people just call it noise or crap.

Same with what's most often called "Industrial".

How can you tell if someone really doesn't like Primus so they don't know about that?

Meshuggah is awesome, some people just can't get past the polyrhythms and can't listen to the art because it's doesn't sound like everything else does. I love listening to music and hearing things that I've never heard before, that's how all music originally starts.

Pinkly Smooth are pretty weird, like Advant-Garde-Metal sort of.
Like circus music meets Pantera.

Aswell as Steely Dan, Meshuggah and Oingo Boingo. I love them, but anyone I show them to gives me weird looks and pretends not to know me .
I deeply regret the 6661 in my username. Siiiigh. Damn you, 14 year old me, you edgy little bastard.
