For metal and classic rock, Gibson LP, or a PRS. If you want a versatile guitar, check out an American Deluxe Strat.

With $2000 you should split it 50/50 for amp/guitar. Everyone here will tell you that amp is 90% of tone.

Fender American US Strat Deluxe

They're amazing. Get the 2008 one too, i dunno what they do to them fretboards but they're beautiful to play on.

And get a nice new amp with the rest. What stuff do you play?

$2000 + Heavy/Classic Rock =

Or at least that's what I'd go for, go down to your local guitar store and try things out, it's the only way you'll get exactly what YOU want.

How do you physically download an album? Like run your computer off a dynamo on an exercise bike?

dont follow this advice please.

sink about 1000-1500 into a used amp, depends on your style, maybe a used 5150, a fender twin reverb, or an old marshall jcm combo.

then save the rest of your money to a good guitar:
blues, lighter stuff = usa standard stratocaster
classic rock to heavier stuff = les paul standard, or even custom (going used would be better, just make sure you try thie guitar first and make sure it isnt a dud)
if you're a shredder maybe look into a jackson soloist or something.

understand that with a soloist you will have to deal with floyd rose which is a pain for many who dont already own a non floyd rose guitar.

a used jcm combo can run from 800-1500

jackson soloists are around 1500 new, 1000 used

i suggest a gibson les paul standard to compliment the jcm. used they can go from 1000 to 2000, theres some good deals out there.

Anyone spending $2000 on a guitar and having to ask other people what they should buy shouldn't be spending 2k on a guitar, they needs their head examined.
