I hate hip hop but flobots are sick

...then you don't hate hip-hop.
I can't get enough of Wu-Tang honestly

Wu-tang and the solo albums are of course essential

GZA - Liquid Swords, Beneath The Surface
Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele, Iron Man
Method Man - Tical, Blackout (w/ Redman)
ODB - Return to the 36 Chambers, Nigga Please
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...
RZA - Bobby Digital in Stereo
masta Killa, U-God, and Inspectah Deck are amazing too

all of the affiliates, like Wu-Syndicate, Cappadonna, Gravediggaz, etc.. (there's literally hundreds) should also be checked out

Old school stuff is the best for me, stuff like Nas, Geto Boyz, Public Enemy, BCC, De La Soul, KRS-One, NWA, eric b and rakim, and a shit ton of others are classic and a lot of underground stuff can't really hold a candle to what they did

Low End Theory - A Tribe Called Quest

Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time
For y'all have knocked her up.
I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe
I was not offended
For I knew I had to rise above it all
Or drown in my own shit.
tupac has some great albums. his most well known (and, IMO, MUSICALLY superior) is called all eyez on me, but it's more of a mainstream rap album (still amazing, however). But lyrically, check out me against the world and makaveli: the seven day theory.

Bone thugs n' harmony is great. their earlier albums are more about guns and weed, but they have a very unique style and have really cool music. E.1999 Eternal is their most popular album (and my favorite), but i first recommend The Collection, Vol. 1.

If you're looking for something pretty laid back that's cool to chill to, The Chronic 2001 from Dr. Dre has great music. Not really the right thing if you're looking for deep and insightful lyrics. it's just cool music.

Nas is great if you're into deep lyrics and stuff. God's Son, and Illmatic are good albums.
