Hey... is there any alternate ways to play an F with out the bar?

I assume you mean an F MAJ Chord... Play it like the bar, but don't play on the top 2 strings.. at the 8th fret, A string, do a power chord type deal. Any possible way you can put the notes F, A, and C together..

Look at how John Frusciante plays bar chords. Form the shape (E or Am), then add the note directly under it. An F would be (eBGDAE) x1233x (or add a 1st fret low E with your thumb if you want). x means mute/dont play.

Yes, just cut out the full barre and play x33211 or x3321x They're still the same basic shape as the barre chord though. You'll need to learn barre chords sooner or later though, so you might as well just use the full barre, imo.

It is very simple to fret the sixth string with your thumb, then fret the 5th string with your 3rd finger, the 4th with your 4th finger, the 3rd with your 2nd finger and barre the 2nd and 1st with your 1st finger, but it will make you a much better player if you learn to barre the whole chord.

yeah F maj.... and i was wondering the area to be pretty much anywhere o the top of the neck...

i can do a full barre but it just gets annoying lol
